This painting was made in response to my sculpture (made from my body) being tormented and sexualized by random men visiting Midnight Gallery, where it lived at for a month. This was also right after Trump got re-elected as President….times were crazy and it felt unsafe for a lot of people.
Since my sculpture-made in the name of death and transcendence from all bodily matters-was so easily taken away from its purpose and into the world that the patriarchy so wants me to be-just a body, to be sexualized and told when to reproduce.
